There is a vulnerability in the emptiness of spaces. I am enthralled in ordinary moments, and the quietness that envelopes them, the open quiet as well as the isolated. The romantic quality of light juxtaposes the subject matter depicted, which examines the duality of physical space and the desperation of feeling lost. ‘Growing Pains’ is the embodiment of finding myself over a period; one in which I do not recognize myself in the mirror most days. I relish in the comfortable moments of loneliness, and lament in abandonment. There is also the exploration of the passage of time as a heavy theme throughout the work, mimicking the weeks of fleeting moments of love and light amongst anxiety and emptiness.
